Minutes

Call to Order:

The Board of Public Works and Safety met on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 in the Council Chambers of Bedford City Hall.  The Honorable Mayor Shawna M. Girgis called the meeting to order. Members present:

1.      Mayor Shawna M. Girgis

2.      Tony Ravenna

Reading of Minutes:

            Mayor Girgis made a motion to approve the minutes as submitted and Tony Ravenna seconded the motion. All members voted in favor of the motion. Passed

New Business:

1.      Approval Of Permanent Rank Assignment – Officer Greg Hagan To Sergeant Greg Hagan – Police Chief Dennis Parsley

Officer Greg Hagan assumed the rank of Sergeant in July 2009 and has now completed a six month period of evaluation.  Officer Hagan has proven to be a capable crew leader and has received positive monthly evaluations from his superiors.  It is therefore the request of the Chief of the Bedford Police Department that the Board grants that Officer Hagan be assigned the rank of Sergeant in a permanent capacity. 

·        The Mayor made a motion to follow the Chief’s recommendation to approve the Rank Assignment for Officer Hagan. Tony Ravenna seconded the motion and all votes were in favor. Passed

2.      Approval Of The Resignation Of Officer Cyle Beekman-Police Chief Dennis Parsley

Officer Cyle Beekman has submitted a letter resigning his position with the Bedford Police Department, effective February 15, 2010.  Cyle has cited other career opportunities as his reason for this decision and leaves the department in good standing. Police Chief Dennis Parsley asked the Board to approve the request.

·        The Mayor motioned that the Board accept Officer Cyle Beekman’s letter of resignation and Tony Ravenna seconded the motion. All votes were in favor of the motion. Passed

3.      Sign Claims Docket:

·        Tony Ravenna made the motion to sign the claim dockets and Mayor Girgis seconded the motion. It was unanimous. Passed

Adjourn:

·        Tony Ravenna motioned to adjourn the meeting because all business of the board had been finished. The Honorable Mayor seconded the motion and all members voted in favor for adjournment. Passed
